The hills are very bleak right now, the only sparks of floral colour are the first Gorse blossoms (Ulex europaeus) . At 'Little Round Top' (excuse the childhood place names!), in the South of the Kilpatrick Hills, a male Kestrel (Falco tinnunculus) hovers overhead. A flock of Long Tailed Tits (Aegithalos caudatus) comes over to inspect me. The Test has masses of gelatinous frog-spawn.
